Two Portuguese tigresses saved by Lisa
The two tigresses were locked in a lorry in Portugal. Thanks to Lisa, a carer at the La Tanière zoo-refuge and in charge of the Quarantine, Xena and Isabella, aged 11 and 10, could be saved.
Their former living conditions were the consequence of the law decided on 30 October 2018 in Portugal which prohibited the use of animals in circus shows. No provision had been anticipated to ensure a second life; many circus animals are often abandoned.
Welcomed in La Tanière quarantine, the two tigresses very quickly adapted to their new environment thanks to Lisa winning their trust. They were later moved to premises selected by the La Tanière team which respect our ethics and values.
